Hello

Head and shoulders profile photograph of Bernie Smith.

Welcome.

My name is Bernie Smith and I'm a freelance Graphic Designer based in Adelaide, South Australia.

After working as a teacher in education for over twenty years, I felt a yearning to move into a creative field. Teaching art for a part of my career spurred my passion, and whilst I was encouraging students to embrace thier artistic talents, I found myself thinking that I needed to take my own advice! Now, in my forties, I've taken the plunge and I couldn't be happier with the decision.

Relatively new to the design scene, and bringing both a strong work ethic and life experience with me, I am all about finding functional design solutions that look great!

The natural world inspires me. There is something special about the perfection, and the imperfection that can be found all around us…if only we look hard enough to see it. I love pattern, found both in nature and in the built environment. I find joy in noticing the little details and also appreciate the 'big picture' of truly beautiful designs.

Working as a freelance graphic designer based at my home in Adelaide, I work on logo design, rebranding, 3D product design as well as magazine and editorial layout. As a professional educator, and having a strong skillset in literacy, I also offer content editing services. Web design, UI design for apps and simple motion graphics are also services I offer, so please make contact if you have an upcoming design project I can help you with.

Please take a look at my portfolio to see my recent work while you are here.

If you’re looking for a fresh perspective on your next design job, I would love to be involved.

I live, work, teach and design on Kaurna land. I acknowledge that the Kaurna people of the Adelaide plains have a long, deep, and enduring spiritual relationship with Country. I respect the cultural teachings of the Kaurna people and believe we have a lot to learn from their understandings of how to look after the land, waterways and biodiversity.
